Funk

I wrote this moody, minor-key funk hybrid in late 2004 after I first heard Sly Stone's broodingly awesome Fresh and Riot albums. This loose, laid-back, creepy 6/8 groove is dark but colorful with a synthed-up, oddball 5/4 chorus. Slow-moving neon jellyfish would like this!

Here's a fun synthy-funky piece with a tinge of hip-hop. This "party jam" track was inspired by Sly Stone's later albums, but it ended up sounding a whole lot more like something electronic from the last couple decades. Put on your dancin' shoes...

Here's my 2004 funk-R&B adaptation of a(nother) piece written by Carol Burleson. This dark, moody, Al Green-style groove is dreamy & gritty yet buoyant & upbeat. A nice sparse cut here with a light tambourine in the chorus for effect. Love & Happiness!

Here's another fun, funny, funky funk snippet I made some years ago with a junk kit, tapped bass, and a laptop mic. This puppy is cheerier than its sibling, but it still sounds a bit like crap music bootlegged through a PVC pipe, doesn't it? :-P
