Welcome!
by Darin Münch
Hello there! You’ve discovered the new home of Syd Scotch Music. Things are coming along quite nicely here as we iron out various site kinks. We're working on a proper site design and song player before we begin uploading our library, but soon our repertoire will be ready for perusal. This is all pretty exciting, so be sure to check back! In the meantime, behold Remy's terrifying Dark World form:
I’m Syd Scotch, a composer and multi-instrumentalist specializing in creative orchestration for film, video, TV, games, and other production media. I've devised soundtracks for Windows' international educational software vignettes, collaborated with Amazon on their Fire smartphone demos, and worked with Seattle's RUN Studios to create distinctive music for Microsoft's Surface tablet promos and Internet of Things exposés, including scores for the London Underground railway, ThyssenKrupp Elevator's skyscraper lifts, and New Orleans' high-tech 911 dispatch system. I’d love to hammer out an unforgettable soundtrack for your project, too. I work hard to create custom scores that complement and adapt to your source material and vision whilst retaining a signature sound. I have nearly twenty years’ experience as a song-writer and orchestrator of creative symphonic music (my work has been performed live by symphony musicians here at Benaroya's Recital Hall). Nonetheless, I regard genres more as extensions of voice than limitations on sound; you can hear many examples of this in my repertoire, which so far has encompassed flavors of avant-garde, rock, funk, jazz, electronic, and much more. Whatever the directive, I’m driven to create dynamic, inviting music with a fluid human energy. I deliver polished tracks on tight timetables and I edit my compositions directly to footage for fine-tuning sound to action. I also produce full sheet music sets complete with conductor’s score should you ever need your soundtrack to be performed live. If your project is craving an inventive score with an authentic "live" sound but you can’t afford the Seattle Symphony, do get in touch! I offer flexible rates and a lifetime of experience. I truly look forward to working with you to make your soundtrack a special one. Cheers, Syd ~ SydScotch.com
Trampled Under 908
by Darin Münch
Definitely one of my more Led Zeppelin-esque ripoffs! This funk-rock thing goes for a nice fat (phat?) groove before rolling into a big minor-major chorus. A quirky midway bass duet serves as a total non-sequitur, but the funk quickly returns. Nothing outstanding here, just a nice warm groove that I had fun throwing together quite a few years ago now.
My Mighty MIDI, 1998

To complement my glorious Twitter debut, here's my first-ever (surviving!) MIDI orchestration written way back in 1998 on an old black-and-white Macintosh. Enjoy!
