Meadow String Duet
by Darin Münch
This whimsical chamber-string duet features plucked cello and solo violin in a very playful, rhythmic back-and-forth strain. This care-free track calls to mind whispy wheat fields and bright blue skies! Inspired by the Hyrule Symphony's Goron Mines quartet.
Oak Leaf Whispers
by Darin Münch
Here's a very breathy, somber piece with soft shakuhachi woodwind overlay. This started as a somewhat generic piano project but turned into an interestingly wistful and reflective thing. Sounds almost like a track Nobuo Uematsu might have done for a Final Fantasy game. Pull out your photo albums and get nostalgic!
In The Clouds
by Darin Münch
This airy, dream-like piece floats high in the clouds with its angelic harps, plucked pizzicato, and glassy percussion. Determined at times, yet delicate in its overall mood, this one shoots for the stars but settles for the heavens. [This is the orchestral original of Silky Synth.]
Silky Synth
by Darin Münch
Here's a calming change of pace. This ambient, suspended synth-based track features airy digital pads, peaceful glassy effects, and a gentle-yet-mysterious major-minor chord progression. This is actually a synth version of a different orchestral track I wrote, but this one is little milder. Could pair well with strange visuals or an introspective animation sequence, perhaps?
Flamenco Stop 'N Go
by Darin Münch
The title says it all! This spicy Spanish flamenco features plucked classical guitar phrases, percussion, and upright bass in a nice flowing and rhythmic melody. A flamenco guitar solo toward the end breaks up the pleasant syncopated repetition.
Toybox Plinky
by Darin Münch
An old toybox comes to life in this gentle, quirky piece inspired by the Outset Island theme from The Wind Waker. Mechanical objects, silvery robots, and other wiry playthings become animated, quickly turning a cold wooden floor into a mess of color and texture.
Erhu & Zither
by Darin Münch
Here's one that came into being on a whim while I was playing with some new sample sets. This is a very calm and charming Asian piece (or peace, I should say!). Erhu and zither improvise together in a most tranquil manner, although there is a touch of melancholy here.
Party Funk Jam
by Darin Münch
Here's a fun synthy-funky piece with a tinge of hip-hop. This "party jam" track was inspired by Sly Stone's later albums, but it ended up sounding a whole lot more like something electronic from the last couple decades. Put on your dancin' shoes...
Bombay Creepshow
by Darin Münch
This Indian-esque experiment features acoustic bass runs and bongo over a creepy-sounding drone. It's a little eerie, even reminiscent of Metroid, but it has a nice undercurrent and groove to it. This is a very simple and almost raw-sounding track, but it does have a little mystery and charm. This could work well as a soundtrack to an Indian-themed video or as an accompaniment to some sort of unsettling animation.
Strange Groove
by Darin Münch
This little funk-blues ditty features live bass and close-mic'd mini drums backed by a nice synthy string track. I added a little reverb and some digital effects to give it a bit of air and vibe. The mysterious chords here make me think of Radiohead, but the inspiration was actually Albert King and Sly Stone's later dark-funk stuff. This could work well in an animation or perhaps as a soundtrack to something moody and contemplative.
