Erhu & Zither
by Darin Münch
Here's one that came into being on a whim while I was playing with some new sample sets. This is a very calm and charming Asian piece (or peace, I should say!). Erhu and zither improvise together in a most tranquil manner, although there is a touch of melancholy here.
The two-stringed erhu, also known as a "spike fiddle," is a sort of Chinese violin. The zither is a large, multi-stringed instrument that seems to span the gap between harp and guitar whilst adding a nice ethnic touch. These two play nice together, I think! This would be a great track to use for any video or project that needs a calm, generic "Asian sound" (so to speak).
