Scratch Funk
by Darin Münch
*This short clip is part of my Slew of Snippets series.
Here's another one I did using a whisper-quiet junk drum kit back when I had to live sans volume in a cramped downtown apartment. This part-live, part-Garageband funk improv was chiefly inspired by Sly Stone's Fresh album. Electric Rhodes piano, fretless bass, and junk drums find a curious rhythm. This has a funny, quirky feel with a touch of WTF?!
Instrumentation includes tapped fretless electric bass, electric keyboard, and live junk drum kit in a unique 4/4 funk syncopation. (The first sound is NOT the downbeat!)
