Prairie Concerto
by Darin Münch
*This clip is part of my Slew of Snippets series.
Here's my valiant attempt at a lively orchestral western. This one is in the spirit of Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring. The instruments didn't come out quite as "alive" as I'd hoped for (I used Apple's stock symphony samples), but the adventurous, out-west mood is intact. This one takes its cues from Tucson shoot-outs, cowboys on horseback, and optimistic journeys across prairies.
Instrumentation includes staccato bass strings, violin section, percussion, piccolo flute, trumpets, harmonica, and snare drum at a lively 4/4. A great pick to establish an epic country atmosphere with a bit of western grit.
