Orchestra TechEd!
by Darin Münch
Our super-secret symphony project is finally live! Watch a 25-piece orchestra bow-sync to my music at Benaroya's Nordstrom Hall in this cheerful Microsoft TechEd Europe ad. This spot debuted at the TechEd Europe show in Barcelona late last year. This delightful project was (once again) made possible by a collaboration with RUN Studios and Brother Eric (a.k.a. Mix Master Munch). Have a look and a listen!
INSTRUMENTATION: Features celeste, strings, harp, brass, and percussion. I was tasked to meld elements of Alexandre Desplat and even Carmina Burana in this short but magical piece. Filmed in October 2014 at Seattle's Benaroya Hall, these union string players could not legally record my music live, so they simply play-acted along to my pre-recorded orchestra clip. This was all an absurd amount of fun to watch! [Bonus: the humming you hear at the end is none other than Brother Eric.] :-)
